Eli Tomac wins in the opening round of the World Supercross Championship in Cardiff

Eli Tomac went into the first Grand Prix of the new World Supercross Championship held this Friday and Saturday at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff (Wales) fresh off the US Motocross Championship and a win at Motocross of Nations. The American secured his first win of the championship with three triumphs in the three races of the night. Racing as a wildcard rider who's not running the rest of the series, Tomac managed to stay among the fastest and went on to win the three main races.

In the first heat, the American finished 4 seconds ahead of Vince Friese. He repeated in the 2nd heat, with Ken Roczen 2nd.  Friese crossed the checkered flag in third place in the second race.In the third and longest race, Tomac took the win yet again. After 12 laps, he saw Joey Savatgy take second place by less than two seconds. Unable to get on the podium again, Roczen finished with fourth place behind Justin Brayton.
