The bracket itself is plastic. Mounts on handlebar with supplied hardware. If using a Tourtech locking mount u need alot of patience and surgical fingers to install bolts and zumo 396 mount. I also had to grind away a small part of lower plastic bracket to install bolt from the back into the lower rubber bushed Tourtech mount. Just remember patience cuz this took me awhile with a couple redos. I also used the upper mounting plastic bracket holes after a final redo. Looks good when done but maybe low for practical use but thats where the Cardo headset comes in.

A beautifully engineered kit that\s a breeze to install. Had to add 4 spacers to the back of the garmin 665 mount for it to lay flat. Looks great!
